GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT PATENT GRANTING SYSTEM IN BULGARIA
In order to file a patent application in Bulgaria we require:
1.Title of invention.
2.The name and address of the applicant / applicants.
3. The name and address of the inventor / inventors.
4. Priority document – if claimed priority.
5. Specification of the invention, claims, abstract and drawings.
6. Power of attorney (DOC - 26,11 K)
Detailed information of the documents required
Official publication of an application is within 18 months from the filing date.
Examination of an application is upon request.
Final decision of examination department 36 - 48 months as from the filing date.
Patent granting (issue of the protective document) after the decision of the examination department.
Fees due after grant decision:
1. Issue of a patent.
2. Publication of a patent.
3. First annuities.
Period of validity of the granted patent: 20 years from the filing date.
Patent for inventions are granted for inventions, which are:
1. New – the invention will be considered novel when it is not found in the state of the art.
2. Have an inventive step.
3. Have an industrial application
